How is this achieved?

At INPUT we turn the problem on its head. We accept that the pain cannot be eliminated and instead of seeing the answer as finding a cure we work with the sufferer to solve the problems the pain causes. We help them to get fit again by stretching and exercising and show them how to make a return to doing the things they enjoy. We help them to understand chronic pain, to overcome their fears about it, to reduce tablets that don’t help and to learn ways of relaxing and challenging negative ways of thinking. People who go through our programmes get fitter and more mobile, feel less depressed and increase their confidence. Their pain reduces and their quality of life improves.

Research has shown that people with longstanding pain who have tried lots of treatments are more likely to make worthwhile improvements by attending a pain management programme than from having further injections, drugs or operations. Treatment at INPUT does not cure the pain but research on many thousands of people who have been through the programme proves that the majority make major improvements to how they feel and how the pain affects them.
